Dr. Yuliya Pylayeva-Gupta has been appointed Associate Professor with tenure in the Department of Genetics, effective Jan. 1, 2021.
Dr. Pylayeva-Gupta earned a BA in Russian language and literature and a BS in Biological Chemistry from SUNY at Stony Brook in 2000, followed by a PhD in Cell Biology and Genetics from Cornell University/Sloan-Kettering Institute in 2008. Following a postdoctoral fellowship at New York University (2014), Dr. Pylayeva-Gupta was appointed Assistant Professor in the Department of Genetics and Member, Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center in 2015. In 2019, Dr. Pylayeva-Gupta received the V Scholar Plus Award from the V Foundation. Her lab focuses on understanding mechanisms that drive the establishment of the pro-tumorigenic immune microenvironment in Kras-driven pancreatic cancer.
