Five years ago, students in the Division of Clinical Laboratory Science launched the UNC-CH Clinical Laboratory Science Service Society. The organization is dual-purpose: to promote the profession of clinical laboratory science and to give students an opportunity to interact with one another outside the classroom in ways that provide other learning opportunities and social interactions. This year, service society members have accomplished the following projects:
- Food drives
- Given laboratory tours
- STEM fair at a local middle school
- Volunteered in the pediatric playroom at UNC Hospitals
- Taught student-led scientific sessions at the fall SPLASH event on campus, an enrichment program for high school students.
- Participation in the North Carolina Science Festival at the UNC Science Expo
