The Office of Student Services supports the members of the student body throughout their Health careers. All student-related issues funnel through this office, and most activities that involve students, including Orientation, Semester Welcome-Back Events, and Graduation are organized here. The Office of Student Services manages student data, supports clinical education, assists with course evaluations, and offers financial aid counseling. In addition to my supervisory duties, I help conduct student services for the Neurodiagnostics and Sleep Science and other new programs when needed including admissions, registration, enrollment verification, and graduation.

She assists students with admissions, enrollment, registration, and graduation during their time at UNC. Additionally, she serves as support staff for the PA program directors and faculty.
Clinical Contract Specialist
Email: garrett_nesmith@med.unc.eduMy work consists of managing clinical contracts and affiliation agreements the Department of Health Sciences and numerous facilities nationwide have established. I primarily focus on agreements for the following programs: Audiology, Clinical Lab Sciences, Clinical Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling, Neurodiagnostic and Sleep Sciences, Radiology, Sonography, as well as Speech and Hearing Sciences. I work alongside OPSCA and OUC to process renewals and new requests for agreements and act as a liaison between the department and the divisions during the execution process. I also assist in collecting and managing data for student services and managing locker assignments for incoming students.

My responsibilities include guiding students through the complexities of admissions, ensuring a smooth registration process, and facilitating their graduation pathways. I assist with each student’s unique needs, addressing inquiries and concerns while actively working to enhance their academic experience.
Student Service Specialist
Course Evaluation Manager
Office: 919-966-2343Email: kayla_rankin@med.unc.eduAs a Student Service Specialist in the Department of Health Sciences, I oversee the full scope of student admissions, registration, records management, and student aid for multiple programs, including Audiology, MS Speech-Language Pathology, Minor in Speech and Hearing Sciences, and Certificate program in Radiologic Science. I serve as one of the Work Study Managers for the student services suite and assist in administering general policies and procedures related to student services across the department. In my role as Course Evaluation Manager, I use the Carolina Course Evaluation System (“Blue by Explorance”), which requires coding skills to design, configure, and manage course evaluation questions. This work provides valuable insights into the student experience, helping faculty enhance both teaching and learning.
In addition, I coordinate event planning for the Division of Speech and Hearing Sciences, managing in-person and virtual events such as information sessions, interviews, orientations, and graduations via Zoom and Webex. I also collect and analyze enrollment, admissions, and graduation data to support program improvement and research within the Health Sciences. Through these responsibilities, I ensure seamless operations, a positive student experience, and data-informed decision-making that strengthens our academic programs.
Director, Division of Speech and Hearing Sciences
Director, LEND Audiology Supplement

I serve as a LEND (Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental Related Disabilities) faculty member and provide clinical services at the Carolina Institute for Developmental Disabilities on two multidisciplinary teams; the School Age Team and the Hearing and Development Clinic.
Since joining the faculty at UNC in 2018 I’ve lead an interprofessional health professions service learning trip to eastern North Carolina working with community partners to address health disparities and rural healthcare access. Additionally, I serve of the UNC Office of Interprofessional Education and Practice(IPEP) Advisory Board.
My profession service includes work with CAPCSD, AAA and the NC-EDHI Advisory Committee.
