Lavinia Kolarczyk, MD, FASA was recently recognized as a Friend of Nursing. This award is given to a physician or advance care provider that has exemplified interdisciplinary collaboration and has been recognized by nursing staff for their exceptional partnership and contributions to nursing.
“Lavinia is a true friend of nursing, she demonstrated the One Great team for her ability to collaborate effectively and assist others in achieving their goals. Lavinia is always willing to educate the cardio-thoracic ICU nurses. She facilitated a round table discussion as a way to educate nurses on what happens in the OR and included both physicians and nursing so that they can build relationships, create a better team, as well as understand each others’ work. Lavinia exemplifies Carolina Care for the cardio-thoracic ICU nurses by holistically caring about patients and teammates and demonstrating kindness and compassion in every interaction”
