Rafal Pawlinski, PhD
Lenvil Lee Rothrock Distinguished Professor of Medicine
Areas of Interest
Sickle cell disease, multiple sclerosis, coagulation proteases, thrombosis
About
Dr. Pawlinski is interested in the role of coagulation proteases in the pathology of hematologic and neurologic disorders. Over the last years, a significant part of his research effort has focused on sickle cell disease. Specifically, his group investigates the role of coagulation in the pathology of this disease, including the mechanisms of coagulation activation, disease specific venous thromboembolism, stroke, and coagulation proteases-driven vascular complications. In addition, his laboratory seeks to define the role of tissue factor and coagulation proteases in the pathophysiology of multiple sclerosis.
