Research Resources

Fellows anticipating a career in research are encouraged to seek projects and mentors in their first year.  One of the elective months should be dedicated to talking with faculty about potential research projects.  T32 training grant applications are typically due in January or February of the first year.  A variety of funding mechanisms are available, and fellows are strongly encouraged to apply for grants.  Fellows without funding may need to perform extra clinical duties, but the fellowship is committed to supporting fellows’ research endeavors.

A variety of research experiences are available:

• Basic or translational research in the UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center

• Clinical research with members of the division of hematology /oncology

• Basic, translational, or clinical research in the Eshelman School of Pharmacy (ranked the top school of pharmacy by US News and World Report, 2016)

• Health policy and outcomes research with the UNC Gillings School of Public Health (ranked the top public school of public health by US News and World Report, 2016), as well as clinical trials research.

• Health services research with members of the Cecil G. Sheps Center for Health Services Research at UNC-CH

• Basic or translational research with members of the Blood Research Center the research home for non-malignant hematology at UNC.
