- Andrew Moon, MD, MPH, and Louise Henderson, PhD, professor of radiology, were awarded a $150K grant from the Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center for a hepatocellular carcinoma screening project.
- Edward Barnes, MD, received an NIH NIDDKD K-23 grant award for “Treatment Approaches and Outcomes in Pouch-related Disasters After Colectomy for Ulcerative Colitis.”

- Shakira Grant, MBBS, received the Paul Calabresi Oncology K12 Career Development Award for “Geriatric conditions and the illness experience of adults with multiple myeloma and their care partners.”
- Grant also received a Jimmy V. Foundation Award with Sascha Tuchman, MD, MHS, and Elizabeth Tita, PhD, for “Enhancing underrepresented minority recruitment to clinical trials in multiple myeloma through augmentation of research personnel and infrastructure.”
