John B. Buse, MD, PhD, is a Verne S. Caviness Distinguished Professor of Medicine at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine in the Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism. Dr. Buse is the Faculty Therapeutic Director for Diabetes/Metabolism, UNC Clinical Research Alliance, and Co-Director for the NC Translnational and Clinical Sciences Institute. He earned his MD and PhD in Physiology/Immunology from Duke University and completed his internal medicine training at the University of Chicago. Over his three-decade career, Dr. Buse has led numerous multicenter clinical trials in diabetes and obesity, authored hundreds of publications, and held leadership roles within the American Diabetes Association.
