Shana Ratner, MD, FACP, professor of medicine in the University of North Carolina’s Division of General Medicine and Clinical Epidemiology, is now serving as the Interim Chief for the division.

Dr. Ratner joined the UNC faculty in 2011 after completing her medical degree at UNC Chapel Hill and her residency and chief residency at the University of Chicago. She has a strong record in quality improvement, clinical care, preventive health and population health. She has served as section chief for education and clinical practice and associate director for the UNC Institute for Healthcare Quality Improvement.

In her current interim leadership role, Dr. Ratner will oversee educational programs, clinical operations, research activities, and quality initiatives across the division. Her proven ability to enhance patient-centered care and engage providers and learners equips her to build on the division’s strategic goals.

A formal search for a permanent division chief will launch in the coming months.
