David Weber, MD, professor of medicine in the division of infectious diseases, pediatrics and epidemiology, was interviewed in an AP article about the second wave of flu, amid concerns about the coronavirus.
The article recognizes that the second surge began in late January, and that there is now another rise in the percentage of doctor’s office visits that were due to flu-like illness, according to the U.S. Center for Disease Control and Prevention.
Weber acknowledges that UNC Medical Center has not yet peaked for influenza. “We are still on our way up,” he said.
