Dr. Kavita Shah Arora, one of only 14 Ob-Gyns nationwide, is a key member of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) delegation to the American Medical Association’s (AMA) House of Delegates. Dr. Arora’s participation in the recent AMA Interim Meeting on November 15th underscores ACOG’s ongoing efforts to advance priorities in women’s health care, such as improving access to maternal health services and addressing policy issues impacting both patients and providers.

Dr. Kavita Arora Joins ACOG Delegation at AMA House of DelegatesACOG, alongside other medical organizations, played a key role at the AMA Interim Meeting in shaping policies affecting obstetric and gynecologic care. Delegates shared powerful testimonies, highlighting the impact of Medicare payment cuts and the challenges facing patients and physicians surrounding public health. ACOG’s presence, strengthened by many obstetrician-gynecologists in the AMA House of Delegates, led to the adoption of new AMA policies aimed at addressing these issues.

Dr. Kavita Shah Arora serves as the Director of the Division of General Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Midwifery and is a Full Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at UNC Health. She has published over 100 peer-reviewed articles, including in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA), and has received funding from the NIH, HRSA, Greenwall Foundation, and the Society for Family Planning.
