At the 2026 Annual Clinical Genetics Meeting (ACMG), Andrea Johnson, MS, CGC, presented collaborative research led by principal investigator Dr. Neeta Vora, with patient recruitment and data analysis conducted by Kelly Gilmore. All three are UNC Maternal Fetal Medicine faculty whose combined efforts are advancing genomic and functional insights into fetal brain abnormalities. Their work reflects the strength of UNC’s interdisciplinary approach to research with a goal of improving diagnosis and care for families.
Dr. Neeta Vora, UNC Maternal Fetal Medicine faculty and principal investigator on multiple genomic initiatives, presented on the rapidly evolving landscape of non‑invasive fetal sequencing (NIFS) during a Scientific Concurrent Session at the 2026 ACMG Annual Clinical Genetics Meeting. Her talk, ‘Cell Free DNA Overview and Future Directions,’ underscored how advances in cell‑free DNA technology are bringing comprehensive fetal genomic assessment closer to clinical reality. Dr. Vora’s leadership continues to position UNC at the forefront of shaping the next era of prenatal diagnosis.
