Dr. Rubinstein is a board-certified ophthalmologist, ASOPRS-trained oculofacial plastic surgeon, and Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine.

Born and raised in New Jersey, Dr. Rubinstein completed his undergraduate education with honors at The College of New Jersey in Ewing, NJ. He attended medical school at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School in Newark, NJ. Dr. Rubinstein went on to complete his internship in internal medicine as well as his residency in ophthalmology at Rutgers, serving as chief resident of his ophthalmology program in his final year. Subsequently, he was invited for fellowship training in oculofacial plastic and reconstructive surgery at the ASOPRS accredited Center for Facial Appearances under the mentorship of renowned facial plastic surgeon Dr. John McCann. Upon completion of this rigorous, prestigious training, Dr. Rubinstein joined the faculty at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine.  His interest in medical education led to his appointment as the associate director of the ophthalmology residency program at UNC. In addition to his clinical practice locations in Chapel Hill and Burlington, Dr. Rubinstein provides award-winning care for the veterans of North Carolina at the Fayetteville VA Medical Center.

Dr. Rubinstein has extensive training and experience in a broad array of cosmetic and reconstructive facial procedures, focusing on eyelid, lacrimal, and orbital surgery. He is an expert in caring for patients with orbital fractures and other periocular traumatic injuries and has authored numerous publications on the subject. For patients interested in facial rejuvenation, Dr. Rubinstein offers expertise in the most modern and advanced techniques, such as minimally invasive endoscopic brow lifts, autologous fat transfer, and no-scar eyelid surgery including ptosis correction and lower blepharoplasty.
