Miguel A. Materin, MD, is a Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology and a specialist in Ocular Oncology. He received his medical doctorate from the University of Buenos Aires in Argentina. He completed his residency training in Ophthalmology at Santa Lucia National Hospital (Buenos Aires).  Dr. Materin completed his fellowship in retina at Consultores Oftalmológicos in Argentina, and an additional fellowship in Ocular Oncology at Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia (1999-2000). At the Wills Eye Hospital, he served at the Director of Diagnostic Studies for the Ocular Oncology Service (2002-2008). During his years at Yale University and Smilow Cancer Hospital at Yale New Haven (2009-2016), Dr. Materin was the Director of Ophthalmic Oncology.

Dr. Materin’s clinical practice involves the diagnosis and treatment of patients with ocular tumors, including benign and malignant tumors of the eye. He is recognized for his skill and compassion, having worked for more than 20 years in the field of Ocular Oncology.  Dr. Materin has published his research findings in peer-reviewed journals and he is internationally recognized as a visiting professor and lecturer in his field.  He has been recognized by the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) with their Achievement Award and is an active member of the International Society of Ocular Oncology.
