Dr. Meghan Rebuli, Assistant Professor of Pediatrics in the Division of Allergy-Immunology, has been appointed Vice Chair of UNC Chapel Hill IRB #5 – Board E (IRB # 540). Institutional Review Boards are essential to the ethical conduct of research involving human subjects. Any human subjects research proposed by faculty, staff, or students must be reviewed and approved by an IRB before research may begin, and before related grants may be funded. OHRE and the IRBs are critical components of the coordinated Human Research Protection Program, which serves to protect the rights and welfare of human subjects. All components of this program must work together to ensure institutional compliance with ethical principles and regulatory requirements.
