Ashley Sutton, MD was promoted to Professor of Pediatrics effective April 1, 2023. Dr. Sutton has been a faculty member in Pediatrics since 2012. Dr. Sutton is a Pediatric Hospitalist and Director of Quality, Patient Safety and Flow for the Division of Pediatric Hospital Medicine.
During her time on faculty she has led efforts throughout UNC Children’s focusing on improving care and systems. Her primary focus has been throughput and transfers as well as standardizing care for common conditions managed in hospitalized children, including serving as a site PI for a national AAP QI collaborative study. More recently she has participated in focused efforts and projects aimed at improving patient safety as part of the Children’s Value Stream initiative. She has a particular interest in fostering meaningful resident QI participation and has mentored multiple projects that have resulted in local and national presentation and publication opportunities for trainees.
