We are excited to announce that Shiva Zargham, MD, MSc will join the education team as an Associate Program Director. Dr. Zargham is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine.
Aisha Venugopal, MD joined the Pediatric Division of Emergency Medicine on September 7, 2023. She will be working at the Blue Ridge Urgent Care Center. Dr. Venugopal earned her medical degree from the Eastern Virginia Medical School in 2018. She completed her Pediatric residency between 2018 and 2021 at the Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters in Norfolk, VA. Beginning in 2021 Dr. Venugopal has been faculty at the Eastern Virginia Medical School Department of Pediatrics and worked in Urgent Care a the Children’s Hospital of The Kings Daughters. Latonya Logan joined Pediatric Emergency Medicine on August 8, 2022. In 2018, Ms. Logan received her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from the University of South Carolina Upstate in Greenville, SC and her Master of Science in Nursing from Drexel University in Philadelphia in 2021. Alexandria Whitted joined Pediatric Emergency Medicine on August 8, 2022. In 2013, Ms. Whitted received her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing and then her Master of Science in Nursing in 2021, both from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Welcome Alexandria!

Elizabeth Fitzgerald, MD was promoted to Associate Professor of Pediatrics effective May 1, 2022. Dr. Fitzgerald has been a faculty member in Pediatric Emergency Medicine since 2016. In addition to her clinical responsibilities, Dr. Fitzgerald is focused on Global Health. She is the U.S.-based director of UNC pediatric resident activities in Malawi and has developed and implemented a biannual Pediatric Global Health SIM for UNC trainees planning to do electives in low-resource settings.

Dr. Wood joined the Department of Pediatrics as faculty in the Division of Emergency Medicine on September 1, 2021. Dr. Wood received a BS in Nutrition and Exercise from Virginia Tech in 2010 and received her degree in Osteopathic Medicine from Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2015. She completed her fellowship in Pediatric Emergency Medicine Fellowship at Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughter in June 2021.

Daniel Park, MD, Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine, was promoted to Associate Professor of Pediatrics as of May 1, 2021. Dr. Park has been a faculty member in Pediatric Emergency Medicine since 2016.
