Bauserman Joins 2022-23 Women ADVANCE Leadership Program

Dr. Melissa Bauserman, Associate Professor of Pediatrics in the Division of Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine has been invited to join the 2022-23 Women ADVANCE Leadership program. She will be one of a diverse and brilliant group of researchers, clinicians, teachers, and leaders from across the University.

Laughon Named Vice Chair for Faculty Affairs

We are pleased to announce that, Dr. Matt Laughon began his tenure as Vice Chair for Faculty Affairs on July 1, 2022, serving as the Chair’s designate for one of the most important parts of the academic pediatric enterprise.   For 11 years, Terry Noah has been the Vice Chair for Faculty Affairs in the Department of Pediatrics. Academy of Educators – Recent Pediatric Inductees and Accomplishments

Welcome New Clinical Provider: Jenny Miedema, RN, CPNP-PC, NNP-BC

February 1, 2022

Jenny Miedema joined the Division of Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine on February 1, 2022. Ms. Miedema received her BA from Washington University in St. Louis in 2001 and her MSN form the University of Tennessee in Knoxville in 2005. She completed her training as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner at Duke University in 2010 where she continued to work in NICU through 2017. Jenny will be working in the UNC Newborn Critical Care Center on a part-time basis.  Welcome Jenny![

Welcome New Physician Faculty: Misty Good, MD, MS, FAAP

November 30, 2021

Misty Good, MD, MS, FAAP joined the department as the new Division Chief of Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine. Dr. Good joined us on November 30, 2021.  She comes to us from Washington University in St. Louis. She earned an undergraduate degree in Biological Sciences from the University of Southern California before pursuing a combined MD/MS program at the American University of the Caribbean in St. Maarten, Netherland Antilles. After completing her medical and graduate degrees, she completed her residency and a year as Chief Resident at the Children’s Hospital of Illinois. Dr. Good completed her Neonatal-Perinatal fellowship training, at the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh in 2011. Welcome Misty!

Welcome New Physician Faculty: Kelly Allis, MSN NNP

Ms. Allis joined the Department of Pediatrics as a Nurse Practitioner in the Division of Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine on August 23, 2021. Ms. Allis received her BSN from Barton College in 2003 and in 2006 completed her masters in nursing from East Carolina University. She has worked extensively in the Neonatal ICU at Pitt County Memorial Hospital/Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, NC. In 2021, she completed a post-master’s certificate in the Neonatal Nurse Practitioner program at ECU.

Welcome New Physician Faculty: Lauren Frazer, MD, PhD

Dr. Frazer joined the Department of Pediatrics as faculty in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine on July 5, 2021. She completed her Pediatric residency at UNC Chapel Hill in 2018 and, in June 2021, she completed a fellowship in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine at Boston Children’s Hospital/Harvard University.

Welcome New Researcher: Jaydeep Sinha, M.Pharm, PhD

May 1, 2021

Dr. Sinha joined the Department of Pediatrics as faculty in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine on May 1st. Dr. Sinha completed his PhD in Pharmacometrics in 2019 from the Univeristy of Otago School of Pharmacy in Dunedin, New Zealand. Beginning in 2019 he has been a Post Doctoral researcher in the Eshelman School of Pharmacy at UNC.
