About Our Research
Research efforts within the division of General Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine include projects involving: complex care coordination and management, obesity prevention, alcohol and other substance use prevention, injury prevention, inflammatory bowel disease, child abuse prevention, improving communication between non-English speaking families and their providers, teens with chronic illness transitioning from pediatric to adult healthcare, increase adolescent access to high-quality sexual and reproductive healthcare and many more.
Our faculty collaborates in these projects with colleagues across campus, including researchers working throughout the School of Medicine, Frank Porter Graham Child Development Institute, Gillings School of Global Public Health, Adams School of Dentistry, School of Nursing, Carolina Population Center, Cecil G. Sheps Center for Health Services Research, Center for Health Promotion and Disease Prevention, the Odum Institute, and the Center for Women’s Health Research.
Our division welcomes opportunities to provide research training through collaborations with the NRSA Primary Care Research Fellowship Program and UNC’s Preventive Medicine Residency Program.
