We take pride in educating all types of learners including advanced practice providers, medical students, residents, and fellows.

Advanced Practice Providers

Students at UNC studying to become nurse practitioners have the opportunity to shadow our advanced practice provider, Leonard Kovalick, and get hands-on experience in a clinical setting. In addition, Mr. Kovalick gives semi-annual lectures in the School of Nursing.

Medical Students

We offer a combined Pediatrics Rheumatology and Orthopaedics rotation (PEDS442) for medical students both at UNC and other institutions. In this rotation, students participate in the clinical management of patients under direct attending supervision, inpatient consults service, weekly case conferences, and faculty lectures. For more details, please visit our rotation website.

Residents

Our Pediatric Rheumatology rotation is available for UNC Pediatric and Med/Peds residents as well as visiting residents from other institutions. During this rotation, residents will actively participate in outpatient clinics, inpatient consults, and weekly case conferences. They will also receive disease-specific lectures designed to broaden their knowledge of rheumatologic processes and treatments. Residents who are soon to begin a rotation with Pediatric Rheumatology should login HERE to review materials relevant to the practice.

Fellows

Fellows in the Allergy/Immunology Fellowship Program and the Rheumatology Fellowship Program have the opportunity to work with faculty providers in their clinics.
