Perinatal or pregnancy-related mood and anxiety disorders are preventable and treatable. M.O.M.S. teams can play a crucial role in preventing and treating these common but serious illnesses.
NC Maternal Mental Health MATTERS
The MATTERS (Making Access to Treatment, Evaluation, Resources, and Screening Better) Program provides real-time, perinatal psychiatric consultation via the NC-PAL behavioral health telephone line as well as resource and referral services for primary care providers in obstetric, pediatric, family medicine, and psychiatric clinics. The MATTERS program aims to support providers in the identification and management of pregnant and postpartum patients’ mental health and substance use concerns.
