The mental health of our children and adolescents is perhaps the largest issue affecting the future health of our state. UNC Health has partnered with the N.C. Department of Health and Human Services to convert the R.J. Blackley Alcohol and Drug Abuse Treatment Center in Granville County into a 54-bed inpatient psychiatric hospital for children and adolescents. The partnership between two state agencies, NCDHHS and UNC Health, will expand much-needed services for children and adolescents providing relief to families seeking specialized, inpatient behavioral health treatment for their loved ones while keeping these patients out of hospital emergency departments. A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held Tuesday November 7th.
