The UNC Department of Radiation Oncology is pleased to announce that two new future radiation oncologists will be joining our medical residency program on July 1, 2021, Drs. Ethan Steele and Michael Young.

 

 

Dr. Ethan Steele is from the Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis, IN.

Dr. Steele earned a bachelor’s degree in physics from Indiana Universtiy before being accepted to its medical school. While there, he took a year off to earn a master’s degree in clinical research, conducting healthcare outcomes research in radiation oncology for patients with cervical cancer. His research mentor, Dr. Jordan Holmes, is himself a former UNC radiation oncology resident!

 

 

Dr. Michael Young is from the University of Nevada at Reno School of Medicine in Reno, NV.

Dr. Young earned a bachelor’s degree in exercise physiology from Brigham Young University Idaho before entering medical school. During medical school, he spent a month at St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in Memphis where he studied radiogenomics of childhood brain tumors, and at his home institution, conducted research on the use of stereotactic radiation therapy for patients with brain metastases.
