Madison Foushee

1. How do you manage to stay balanced and healthy in spite of the busy med school schedule?

Activia™ yogurt keeps me “balanced.” I absolutely have to work out or be active --exercise keeps me from going too crazy. Also, I specifically budget time to socialize, find/refine new hobbies, travel, and/or explore my environment.

2. Why do you want to become an advocate and what three qualities will you bring to the job?

I really enjoy talking with/at/to people, and getting to know them/their story. Everyone has something to offer and I try to bring that to the surface. Also, as a former UNC undergrad, I think I will be able to help incoming students navigate and utilize all the resources that the Chapel Hill area has to offer. Three qualities: enthusiasm, sarcasm, albinism.

3. What’s the most important piece of advice you would give to an MS1 at the beginning of the year?

Wear your seatbelt.

4. What is your favorite artery, organ, or nerve; and why?

The pancreas—it’s a hard, versatile worker and a powerful leader within the abdominal cavity (no one, not even trauma surgeons, cross the pancreas… and yes my pancreas is blackmailing me to write this right now).

5. If you could have any super power, what would it be? What would you have people call you?

The power to go “full camo.” Title: Cletus.

6. If you had a theme song that played every time you entered a room, what would it be?

1812 Overture Finale
