The Carolina Geriatric Workforce Enhancement Program has contributed to the NC Statewide plan to address Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementias.
Our funders, the Health Services and Resources Administration have developed three free courses on dementia. Sixteen modules address interprofessional care, four modules help providers engage caregivers as allies and seven modules address caregiver’s concerns. You can find the modules for addressing dementia here.
The Center for Aging and Health has independently received a grant from the Duke Endowment to train 100% of the staff in five NC Hospitals to better meet the needs of dementia patients and their families. Click here for more information on the Dementia Friendly Hospital Initiative.
The CGWEP also supports Dementia Friendly Orange County in addressing dementia. This organization trains community leaders and businesses to recognize and respond to the needs of people living with dementia and promotes referrals to the NC Division of Aging and Adult Services Family Caregiver Support Specialists Program.
