The Bowles Center for Alcohol Studies has established two awards that honor distinguished researchers in alcoholism and alcohol abuse. The Bowles Lectureship Award is given to researcher s who have made significant contributions to our understanding of the causes, prevention and/or treatment of alcoholism. The Thurman Lectureship Award honors researchers who contribute to our knowledge of alcohol and liver function.

In addition to these two awards, the Bowles Center also offers post-doctoral fellowships in a multidisciplinary training program funded by NIAAA. Research is focused on molecular and cellular studies on alcohol actions.
