The Bowles Center for Alcohol Studies has established two awards that honor distinguished researchers in alcohol use disorder and alcohol abuse. The Bowles Lectureship Award is given to researchers who have made significant contributions to our understanding of the causes, prevention and/or treatment of alcohol use disorder. The Thurman Lectureship Award honors researchers who contribute to our knowledge of alcohol and liver function.

In addition to these two awards, the Bowles Center also offers postdoctoral fellowships in a multidisciplinary training program funded by NIAAA. Research is focused on molecular and cellular studies on alcohol actions.
