TECH: Mike Smith (Nominated by Ashley Wicker): “Mike is an extremely reliable and hardworking tech! He also is so friendly and shows up each day with a great attitude no matter what. We had a challenging case in EP that ultimately resulted in a sternotomy. Mike was so on it! He constantly made trips to get us equipment and drugs and made countless trips to the blood bank (very quickly!) to get us blood for MTP. We know running back and forth to the blood bank isn’t fun – but he never once let it show! He was so helpful and a key player in stabilizing this patient. He truly exemplifies a Star Heel and serves as a role model for everyone!”

CRNA: Connor Holcomb (Nominated by Alex Doyal): “Connor was fantastic today.  We were working in mammography in a system unused to our presence.  He navigated several difficult administrative hurdles well.  He went above and beyond by mapping out the course, making liaisons with the relevant technicians and MDs.  He made a potentially challenging day go smoothly!”

RESIDENT: Andi Fritz  (Nominated by Jeremy Armbruster): “I was staffing an emergent case solo at Hillsborough overnight and Dr. Fritz came in right away and started her day early to help me out.”

FACULTY: Duncan McLean (Nominated by Rob Isaak): “I was feeling a little under the weather and I had a case coming up that was going to run overnight. I called Duncan McLean before the case started to see if he would cover me if I needed to go home suddenly due to illness. Without any hesitation at all, he said he would come in to relieve me at any point if I needed. He even remotely followed along the case in EPIC, just in case he was needed. It’s so wonderful to be part of a team where you can count on your colleagues and know they always have your back.”
