UNC Department of Anesthesiology congratulates Assistant Professor Mark Henry, MD, for being honored by graduating UNC Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery residents in June 2023 as recipient of the “Outstanding Teacher Award.” Each year, this division’s graduating residents bestow this honor upon a UNC School of Medicine teaching faculty member who has benefitted their learning through teaching excellence and dedication. 

Dr. Aurelie Merlo, a 2023 UNC Cardiothoracic Surgery residency graduate now on faculty with this division, noted of Dr. Henry’s selection: “Graduating cardiothoracic surgery residents give this award each year to a faculty member who has gone above and beyond to teach and mentor them. This year, our group selected Dr. Henry for everything he does to teach us in the OR and in the ICU.  Thank you, Dr. Henry!”
