UNC Anesthesiology congratulates  Edward A. Norfleet, MD ’70 Distinguished Professor Susie Martinelli, MD, FASA, for being named to two leadership positions in the field of anesthesiology education in November 2023 — 1) Association of Anesthesiology Core Program Directors Secretary; and 2) Society for Education in Anesthesia Board of Directors member — both of which are two-year appointments.  

Dr. Martinelli holds multiple leadership posts in the field of anesthesia education and works with peers at the national level to shape the direction of training program requirements and policies. In fall 2022, she was selected from a national pool of leading Anesthesiology educators to serve on the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME)’s Anesthesiology Residency Review Committee (RRC). She was additionally re-elected in late 2022 to serve as a 2022-2023 Association of Anesthesiology Core Program Directors (AACPD) Council member.
