Nathan Painter, MD

UNC Anesthesiology proudly celebrates the national educational contributions of Drs. John ColemanAndres Rojas, and Nathan Painter, all of whom have been formally recognized by the American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) for their service to the Summaries of Emerging Evidence (SEE) program.

SEE is a nationally and internationally distributed continuing medical education (CME) program that synthesizes emerging research in anesthesiology, critical care, and pain medicine. Published twice yearly, SEE reviews 200 high-impact articles annually drawn from approximately 30 international medical journals and reaches more than 5,500 subscribers worldwide. The program is widely regarded as one of the ASA’s most influential educational offerings and depends entirely on the volunteer efforts of expert anesthesiologist educators.

National Leadership Across the SEE Editorial Continuum

Together, Drs. Coleman, Rojas, and Painter represent excellence across all levels of the SEE program — from early career writer to full writer to editor.
Advancing Anesthesiology Through Service and Scholarship
The SEE program relies on hundreds of volunteer hours from a select group of writers and editors nationwide. Recognition from ASA leadership underscores the significance of these faculty members’ contributions—not only to continuing medical education but also to advancing anesthesiology as a specialty.
UNC Anesthesiology Chair Ted Sakai, MD, PhD, MHA, FASA, noted: ” We congratulate Drs. Coleman, Rojas, and Painter on this well-earned national recognition and thank them for exemplifying UNC’s commitment to academic excellence, educational leadership, and professional service.”
