The final event in the “Culture of Care” series, presented by the University Office for Diversity and Inclusion, in partnership with the Center for Faculty Excellence and Student Affairs, this event will focus on flexibility.

An unprecedented year has created the need for increased flexibility in our care for students, but what does this “flexibility” look like? Colleagues from across UNC will provide examples of “reasonable flexibility” in their work with students.

Dr. Charla Blumell is Assistant Director of Health Promotion and Prevention Strategies in the office of Student Wellness. Dr. Blumell’s work focuses on primary and secondary program expansion, utilizing a holistic lens.

Suzie Baker, MA will offer tips for providing reasonable flexibility in support of students navigating complex situations. Suzie is Senior Assistant Dean of Students, Director of the COVID-19 Student Care hub and Chair of the Student Care Team.

A panel discussion will follow, in which UNC professionals will share their perspectives on “reasonable flexibility” from their experience in supporting students, both inside and outside the classroom. The discussion will be moderated by Jessica Lambert Ward, MSW, Director of the Carolina Collaborative for Resilience.

Panelists will include:
