Katherine White, Ph.D., Clare Boothe Luce Assistant Professor, Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry

University of Notre Dame

Title: “Intracellular pH dynamics regulate proteins, pathways and cell behaviors”

Host: Jean Cook

Dr. Katharine White received a B.S. in Chemistry from Saint Mary’s College and a Ph.D. in Chemistry from Massachusetts Institute of Technology. After completing postdoctoral work at the University of California-San Francisco, she joined the Notre Dame University in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry. Dr. White’s lab studies how intracellular pH dynamics regulate proteins, pathways and cell behaviors, with approaches across experimental scales.  They use optogenetics to study intracellular pH with connections to cancer cell biology.
