
Dr. Shenvi is widely recognized for her contributions in advancing medical education and Geriatric Emergency Medicine, and serving in key leadership roles in the field of Emergency Medicine, both at UNC and with numerous national and international professional associations.
After receiving a Doctor of Philosophy in Chemical Biology from Berkely, Dr. Shenvi completed her medical school training at Yale University before pursuing her residency in EM and fellowship training in Geriatric Emergency Medicine at UNC, where she later also completed an MBA from the Kenan Flagler Executive MBA program.
Among her other roles, she has served as Director of the Office of Academic Excellence in the UNC School of Medicine, Associate Residency Director, President of the Academy of Educators, and President of the Association for Professional Women in Medical Sciences.
Her passion for the care of elderly patients led her to launch the Geriatric EM podcast, “GEMCAST,” and she previously has served on the board of governors for the American College of Emergency Physicians’ Geriatric ED Accreditation program.
Dr. Shenvi and colleagues recently published a new book; Geriatric Emergency Medicine,” which focuses on especially relevant and timely topics such as mental health emergencies in the elderly, elder abuse, capacity determinations, and deprescribing in the ED.
She has also received numerous awards from professional associations around the world in recognition of her speaking ability and her other achievements.
