Dr. Mehrotra has held numerous leadership roles with ACEP, a few of which include being past president of its N.C. Chapter, and serving as a Board member for 2023-2024.
Dr. Abhi Mehrotra is a Clinical Professor and Vice Chair of Strategic Initiatives and Operations in UNC’s Department of Emergency Medicine. He is also a system lead for Emergency Services for UNC Health.
“I look forward to serving our members and patients in this new role, especially as we onboard a new executive director and complete the search for a new CFO,” said Dr. Mehrotra.
Widely recognized as a leading expert and thought leader in the field of Emergency Medicine, Dr. Mehrotra has published numerous book chapters as well as many peer review articles on topics spanning a broad range of topics related to Emergency Medicine.
He is also widely recognized for his passion for education, having held various teaching positions with the University of North Carolina Department of Emergency Medicine and Kenan-Flagler Business School. In addition, he has served as an oral examiner and item writer for the American Board of Emergency Medicine, is a member of the Society for Academic Emergency Medicine, and maintains an active role in numerous other medical societies
Throughout his career, Dr. Mehrotra has held key leadership roles in other professional associations such as the Society for Academic Emergency Medicine, the American Board of Emergency Medicine, and the NC College of Emergency Physicians.
Dr. Mehrotra earned a medical degree from The Ohio State University and completed an emergency medicine residency at University of North Carolina Hospitals.
