UNC School of Medicine and UNC Lineberger scientists co-led by Jenny Ting, PhD, and Yisong Wan, PhD, uncovered a new molecular pathway important for the regulation of the adaptive immune system and the mitigation of autoimmune disease.

Dr. Pardo Manuel de Villena (Professor and Chair, Department of Genetics) has been reappointed as an Oliver Smithies Investigator for an additional five years, through June 2025.

Dr. Katarzyna (Kasia) Kedziora has been appointed as Assistant Professor in the Department of Genetics, effective Jan. 4, 2021.

Dr. Hao Guo has been appointed as Assistant Professor in the Department of Genetics, effective Jan. 1, 2021. 

Dr. Fernando Pardo-Manuel de Villena (Chair, Department of Genetics) has been named to a two-year term as President of IMGS.

Dr. Folami Ideraabdullah (Associate Professor, Genetics and Nutrition) has been elected to a three-year term as a director of the Genetic Society of America.

Dr. William Valdar has been appointed Professor in the Department of Genetics, effective Jan. 1, 2021.
