The Office of Graduate Education has recognized three Genetics faculty members with Mentoring Awards.

These nominated awards recognize faculty mentors associated with the Biological and Biomedical Sciences Program (BBSP) who embody innovative and student-centered training.  Letters of nomination highlighted qualities such as creating a supportive environment for trainee growth, clearly articulating expectations, valuing diversity and belonging, and facilitating trainee career development.

 

  • Dr. Adriana Beltran – Associate Professor, received the Nova Award for Mentoring – for earlier-career faculty creating productive and supportive environments
  • Dr. Chuck Perou – May Goldman Shaw Distinguished Professor – Award for Excellence in Basic Science Mentoring – for demonstrating long-term commitment to supporting trainees
  • Dr. Will Valdar – Professor – Award for Excellence in Basic Science Mentoring – for demonstrating long-term commitment to supporting trainees
