Christopher GregoryDr. Christopher W. Gregory was promoted to Research Professor in the Department of Genetics, effective July 1, 2020.

Chris received his BS in Biology from Concord College followed by a PhD in Cell Biology, Neurobiology and Anatomy from The Ohio State University.  He completed postdoctoral training in the Laboratories for Reproductive Biology in the Department of Pediatrics at UNC Chapel Hill (1994-2000).  He served as Research Assistant Professor in Pediatrics (2000-2002) and Pathology and Laboratory Medicine (2002-2003) before leaving academia to work in the pharmaceutical industry.  Chris worked at biotech start-up Voyager Pharmaceutical Corp. (2004-2007), clinical research organization (CRO) Jubilant Clinsys Inc. (2007-2012) where he earned a Six Sigma Green Belt certification, and contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO) Catalent Pharma Solutions (2012-2016).  Chris returned to UNC Chapel Hill in 2016 as Director of Research/Research Associate Professor in the Department of Genetics and joined the UNC School of Medicine Office of Research as Director, Office of Research Technologies in 2018.  Chris has published more than 45 peer-reviewed papers and currently focuses his time on strategic planning, research administration, project management, metrics tracking, mentoring, and policy development for the department and the biomedical research cores.
