Dr. Courtney Thaxton has been appointed as Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Genetics, effective April 1, 2020.
Courtney earned her PhD in Biomolecular Sciences from the University of Central Florida in 2007, followed by a postdoctoral fellowships in the laboratories of Drs. Manzoor Bhat (2008-2012) and Ben Philpot (2012-2016) at UNC Chapel Hill. She joined the laboratory of Dr. Jonathan Berg in 2016 as a Biocurator and now serves as the Director of the ClinGen-affiliated UNC Biocuration and Coordination Core, with oversight of training, progress, and development of clinical domain working groups and expert panels within ClinGen.
