Dr. Katherine (Katie) Hoadley has been promoted to Associate Professor with permanent tenure in the Department of Genetics, effective March 29, 2024.
Dr. Hoadley earned her BA in Chemistry and BS in Biology in 2001 from West Virginia Wesleyan College followed by a PhD in Genetics and Molecular Biology in 2006 from UNC-Chapel Hill. She served as a postdoctoral fellow at the Netherlands Cancer Institute (January-July 2007) and at the Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center (LCCC) at UNC-Chapel Hill (August 2007-July 2009). She was appointed as a Research Associate in LCCC in September 2009 and as a Research Assistant Professor in the UNC Department of Genetics in October 2013. Dr. Hoadley was appointed as a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Genetics on February 1, 2019. She is also a member of the Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center (LCCC) and the Computational Medicine Program and is the Associate Director of Cancer Genomics for the UNC High-Throughput Sequencing Facility and the Faculty Director of the LCCC Bioinformatics Core. She has an outstanding background in using genomics-based assays and integrative analysis to explore tumor heterogeneity, metastatic processes, tissue-specific effects of genomic alterations and development of genomic predictors of response or resistance to therapy.
