Yihsuan S TsaiDr. Yihsuan (Shannon) Tsai was appointed Assistant Professor in the Department of Genetics, effective October 1, 2021.

Dr. Tsai earned her B.S. from the National Yang Ming University in Taiwan in 2007. She then joined the lab of Dr. David Robinson Goodlett at the University of Washington as a Research Assistant from 2007 – 2010. Dr. Tsai came to UNC as a graduate student in the Bioinformatics and Computational Biology (BCB) curriculum where she earned her PhD for her thesis work titled “Transcriptome-wide study of alternative splicing across multiple cancer types” in the labs of Dr. Zefeng Wang and Dr. Shawn Gomez in 2015. After obtaining her PhD, Dr. Tsai joined the UNC Lineberger Bioinformatics Core Facility as a Bioinformatics Scientist where her focus is on integrated analysis of high throughput genomic data related to cancer and other human diseases.
