Lean Six Sigma is a method that relies on a collaborative team effort to improve performance by systematically removing waste and reducing variation. Lean Six Sigma not only reduces process defects and waste, but also provides a framework for overall organizational culture change.

At UNC Health Care, Lean Six Sigma training is provided by the department of Operational Efficiency (OE). Details for available programs are listed below:

      • Yellow Belt
      • Blue Belt
      • Purple Belt
      • Kaizen Coach: This program is for employees who will become full-time improvement coaches. Kaizen Coach is time and resourceā€intensive, so it is essential to have management and personal support to complete this rigorous training and, once certified, to function as an improvement coach. Sessions are:
