Dougald M. Monroe, PhD
Professor of Medicine
Areas of Interest
Blood coagulation factors; Coagulation factor IX; Mechanisms to correct hemophilia; Computational biology.
About
Dr Monroe does biochemical research into the mechanisms of blood coagulation. He is particularly interested in the bleeding disorder hemophilia and mechanisms associated with drugs that correct hemophilia. This work includes basic research studies into the biochemistry of the blood coagulation reactions. This work also includes computational biology projects that are designed to help generate accurate mathematical models of blood coagulation. These models can be used to design better drugs for treating hemophilia and thrombosis.
