Dr. Jenny Flythe, Sherin Ismail, Dr. Michele Jonsson-Funk

An article by Sherin Ismail-Atta PharmD, PhD, epidemiology graduate student at the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health and trainee at the UNC Kidney Center, and her mentors, Michele Jonsson-Funk, PhD, Associate Professor of Epidemiology, and Jennifer Flythe, MD, MPH, Professor of Medicine and Chief of the UNC Division of Nephrology and Hypertension, entitled “Ondansetron and the Risk of Sudden Cardiac Death among Individuals Receiving Maintenance Hemodialysis,’ has been chosen as one of the five Journal of the American Society of Nephrology Editors’ Choice Articles from 2024.

Each year, the editorial team at JASN choses five articles that exemplify the highest potential to inform future research, change clinical practice, and/or influence public policy, particularly in the United States. The article was featured in a JASN-themed issue of ASN’s In the Loop on January 8, 2025.
