- Aadra Bhatt, PhD was awarded a 5 year Maximizing Investigators Research Award (MIRA) from the NIGMS to study how intestinal bacteria affect drug responses.
Division of Geriatric Medicine
- Jan Busby-Whitehead, MD was awarded 1 million dollars for her project, “Carolina Geriatric Workforce Enhancement Program.”
Division of Rheumatology, Allergy & Immunology
- Ross Boyce, MD, received a $341K grant from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases for his project titled, “Reducing malaria in pregnancy through focal drug administration in household members: A pilot feasibility trial”.
- Erin Steinbach, MD, received a K08 Award to Investigate the Relationship Between Intestinal Permeability and Peanut Allergy.

- Rafal Pawlinski, PhD, has been awarded a new MPI R01 grant from the NIH NHLBI for a joint four-year, $3,129,000 project titled “Role of Factor XII in Thrombo-Inflammatory Complications of Sickle Cell.”
