Janet Hadar reveals Eastowne plaque honoring Dr. Ron Falk.

UNC Health unveiled a commemorative plaque this week honoring Ronald J. Falk, MD, for his visionary leadership in the creation of the UNC Eastowne Medical Office Building. The surprise recognition took place on October 28th during a gathering of colleagues and leaders who celebrated Dr. Falk’s decades of impact on patient care, research, and education.

Eastowne serves as UNC Health’s state-of-the-art outpatient hub, bringing together multiple specialties, diagnostic services, and clinical programs under one roof to improve access and continuity of care for patients across North Carolina.

The plaque highlights Dr. Falk’s transformative contributions as a clinical nephrologist, scholar, and mentor, as well as his enduring role in shaping the UNC Kidney Center and the Department of Medicine.

Speakers included Janet Hadar, President & CEO of UNC Hospitals, Dr. Cristy Page, Interim CEO & Dean of UNC Health and the UNC School of Medicine; and Dr. Samantha Meltzer-Brody, executive dean of the UNC School of Medicine. Each reflected on Dr. Falk’s ability to turn ambitious ideas, like Eastowne, into lasting institutional achievements that strengthen care for North Carolinians.

The plaque, now displayed at Eastowne, commemorates Dr. Falk’s legacy of excellence, compassion, and innovation across UNC Health.
