David Eifrig, MD, first chair of Ophthalmology, has died
Dr. Eifrig was the first Chairman of UNC Department of Ophthalmology, serving from 1977 - 2000. He passed away peacefully on October 9, 2013.

A new surgical clinic recently opened in the Medical Office Building at Chatham Hospital. UNC Health Care surgeons will operate in the year-old, nearly 4,000 square foot space. Surgeries will take place once or twice a week for the following specialty areas – ophthalmology; general surgery; ear, nose and throat; and gynecology.
