Associate Chair for Administration
Juan Trujillo, MBA, has over 17 years of experience in the healthcare sector. His diverse background includes financial navigation, front-end operations management, and clinic administration. Since January 2020, he has served as the Associate Chair for Administration for UNC Department of Ophthalmology, where he oversees the department’s administrative, financial, and operational functions.
As a seasoned leader in healthcare administration, Mr. Trujillo is committed to advancing the core pillars of academic medicine: Research, Education, Patient/Clinical Care, and People. He focuses on implementing strategies that drive cost efficiency, improve outcomes, enhance organizational culture, and elevate both educational and patient care standards.
Mr. Trujillo currently serves as a Trustee-at-Large on the Administrator Council Committee of the Association of University Professors of Ophthalmology (AUPO) and is a member of the AUPO Compensation Survey Committee. He also serves as Treasurer of the North Carolina Chapter of the National Association of Latino Healthcare Executives (NALHE) and is an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO).
