Dr. Silverstein is a board-certified ophthalmologist and pediatric ophthalmology and adult strabismus specialist at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in sociology from Columbia University and later graduated in the top 10% of her medical school class at Thomas Jefferson University. She went on to complete her Internal Medicine internship and ophthalmology residency at The Ohio State University, where she served as Chief Resident in her final year. Following her Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus fellowship at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, Dr. Silverstein was appointed as faculty to the Department of Ophthalmology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Dr. Silverstein specializes in comprehensive pediatric ophthalmology, helping children with eye movement disorders, amblyopia, tearing, uveitis, cataract, retinopathy of prematurity, craniofacial disorders, genetic disorders and more. She also treats adults with eye movement disorders and double vision. Dr. Silverstein loves collaborating with families to ensure that her patients maximize their visual potential to optimize quality of life.
Outside of work, Dr. Silverstein enjoys the arts, being outdoors, and spending time with family.
