At UNC, quality teaching and patient safety are our top priorities. Residents are able to take care of patients under direct supervision of fellows and attendings. This is the training ground where residents develop graduated autonomy and learn to manage common and rare ocular diseases. The patient population is diverse in ethnic origin and socioeconomic status so residents are exposed to a wide variety of pathologies and contribute to caring for patients who may not have insurance or a history of routine health and ocular care.
