    Herrera Promoted to Associate Professor of Pediatrics

    Adriana Herrera, MD, MPH was promoted to Associate Professor of Pediatrics effective December 1, 2025. Dr. Herrera has been faculty in the division of Hospital Pediatrics since 2021. Congratulations!

    Smith Promoted to Associate Professor of Pediatrics

    Melissa Smith, MD was promoted to Associate Professor of Pediatrics effective December 1, 2025. Dr. Smith has been a faculty member in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine since 2018. Congratulations!

  • Neal deJong, MD, MPH

    de Jong Promoted to Professor of Pediatrics

    Neal deJong, MD, MPH was promoted to Professor of Pediatrics in the Division of General Pediatrics & Adolescent Medicine, effective October 1, 2025. Dr. deJong has been a faculty member in Pediatrics since July 2015. Dr. de Jong earned his medical degree and remained to completed his pediatric residency at Johns Hopkins University. A Primary Care Research fellowship was completed at UNC Chapel Hill. His research focuses on the care these children and families receive as they balance between their primary care and specialty care physicians, such as effective long-term plans of care for children with chronic conditions.

  • Gerardo Quezada, MD

    Quezada Promoted to Associate Professor of Pediatrics

    Gerardo Quezada, MD was promoted to Associate Professor of Pediatrics effective September 1, 2025. Dr. Quezada has been a faculty member in Pediatrics since 2020. Dr. Quezada completed his undergraduate degree at Texas A&M University and earned his medical degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston Medical School. He completed a Pediatric residency at Driscoll Children’s Hospital and a fellowship in Pediatric hematology-oncology at the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center. Congratulations!

  • Samantha Schilling, MD, MSHP

    Schilling Promoted to Professor of Pediatrics

    Samantha Schilling, MD, MSHP was promoted to Professor of Pediatrics in the Division of General Pediatrics & Adolescent Medicine, effective September 1, 2025. Dr. Schilling has been a faculty member in Pediatrics since September 2015. Dr. Schilling completed her undergraduate degree from Dartmouth University and earned her medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania. She completed a pediatric residency and subsequent fellowship in Child Abuse at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Dr. Schilling’s research focuses on mechanisms to prevent child abuse. Specifically, the impact parenting programs can have increasing parental self-efficacy, effectiveness, and reducing severe discipline and abuse. Congratulations!
